May I introduce Mason Robert Short to the world! He was born on July 31st and is my new little cousin.

Last weekend my family and I went and visted my Grand Parents that live on Lake Talquin in Tallahassee, Florida. Being the southern family that we are, my Grand Mother (Cece) taught us girls how to make homemade Mahaw Jelly. (Mayhaw is a berry for those of you wondering)

Here is the process that I documented. This is the OLD yellowed paper that the recipe was on.

In this case, you actually have to watch the pot while it boils :)

Of course the Libby Lou was underfoot watching the whole thing.

It was time for an updated photo of the Libby Lou.

My sister Amber and my furry baby. I have exciting news too! My sister is pregnant, so I will be Auntie M come March!

My birthday present to myself this year was to take a workshop by the very talented John Michael Cooper of AltF wedding photography. For those of you unaware of who he is, he is THE guy that started the whole Trash the Dress craze.

John is all about being different and thinking outside of the box. Seeing him shoot and listen to him talk for a day on his Very AltF workshop tour was very inspiring! Here are a few shots of John in action telling us a little bit of how he shoots and his thought process.

Here he is using video lights as his main lighting. I was amazed at the results from these photos and have purchased three of the lights myself. I can't wait to play around with them later this week!

Later on in the day we went outside with John and did a concept shoot on a famous Richard Avedon photo. Here is what I captured while the shoot was going on.

When Patrick Williams asked me if I would like to shoot with him in Savannah, I immediately said yes! Most of my family is from the Savannah area, so it is near and dear to my heart.

Craig and Gina held their reception at one of my favorite historic (and haunted) hotels, the Marshall House!

The night before was the 4th of July, so we checked out the firework display that Savannah had to offer.

So, after we finished up formals with the girls, the sky decided to pour monsoon like rains on us. 2,000 people lost power in Savannah that day. The church was running on generators, but our show still went on!

Rain...

More rain... Usually I love storms, not the case with this one. It did make for intersting photos though. I'm almost positive that lightning hit the church parking lot.

Luckily the rain eased up enough for us to shoot a few photos of the wedding party at Forsyth Park.

The day ended Savannah style with a horse and buggy exit.

It's been fun helping Patrick Williams during his busy wedding season this year. This weekend found us shooting Katie & Jonathan's wedding in Grayson, GA. Here are a few favorites from the day!

I have NEVER seen so much poof on a dress. It was beautiful!

I typically don't post a "sequence" on the blog, but the garter toss at this wedding was fantastic. This little boy cracked me up!

WAR EAGLE!

Wow. Wow. Wow. What a freaking cool wedding this was. My buddy Patrick Williams invited me to come help photograph Eleanor and Mark's wedding at Fernbank Museum. Of course I jumped at the chance. This place has DINOSAURS in the middle of the ballroom! How killer is that? These are just a few of my favorites.

This guy photographed the whole wedding! We might have to watch out for him one day!

One of the most beautiful and unique ballroom setups I have ever seen! I hope to photograph there again sometime soon!

Keri & Bob are a super cool couple. We had some fun hanging out and taking engagement photos in June. I look forward to photographing their wedding in August!

Ryan & Cindy held a beautiful wedding in Vinnings this past weekend. Thank you for having me come help out again Patrick ! Fun as always!

What do you do when you have no fun dance light? You make one of your own! I had a remote flash set up, with a color gel over it. Nice effect I think!

WOW! What a wedding this was! Melanie & Simon win the prize for most unique wedding day! The wedding was at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Followed by a pub hour at Einstein's restaurant, THEN a MARCHING BAND escourted the wedding party on a parade from the restaurant to the reception at Park Tavern. If anyone can beat that, please let me know!

The Tuperware Party played at the reception. WOW! What a nice change from the traditional wedding bands. They were fan freaking tastic! Go check them out for sure!

This past Saturday I assisted Patrick Williams at Anik & Greg's wedding in Big Canoe. What a fun day we all had! Anik is a french beauty, and Greg is this super cool down to earth southern gentleman, so it was a fantastic day! These are just a few of my favorites that I shot at their wedding.

The church was incredible! It was made out of nothing but pine wood. It looked and smelled amazing.

This cake is one of the coolest I have seen... Tasted pretty good too, and YES those are CREME PUFFS in the middle!

Greg has two sons that were the best men! They both gave such wonderful heart felt speeches, you would have thought they were 30 years old!

When I noticed the brides shoes laying on one of the tables, you know I had to do something fun with them.

Today I wanted to share a little artistic inspiration for all you guys. If you haven't seen the movie Across the Universe, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT!

This movie is an artistic masterpiece. It's not really a film; to me it's an experience to be a part of. The movie uses Beatles songs to tell a love story set back in the 60s. It is beautifully directed, exquisitely written, and just a phenomenal movie.

Wow. I now understand why people feel awkard in front of the camera! It was fun, but quite a different experience!

Patrick perfectly captured my Libby Lou! She does this head tilt thing when her name is called. Isn't this shot great?

Meet the Libby-Lou, the new addition to the Melissa Prosser Photography team! I don't think she'll be able to hold a camera, but she can pose for me!

My parents surprised me with her on Christmas Eve. I have been wanting a dog ever since my childhood dog Buffy died, so I am super excited to have her living with me!

I think she looks like a cartoon character with her one crazy eye and tounge in this photo...

When you say her name, she cocks her head to the side like she's really listening to what you're saying (even though she was getting tired of my camera). She posed quite well for me. I'm sure she'll get used to the camera...

And yes, her tounge is out like that most of the time!

I was recently comissioned to photograph a bridal shoot for a New Year's Eve wedding. We had planned to do a beautiful outdoor garden session, but instead the drought decided to go away for the day and we were forced inside!

The end result are these beautiful romantic bridal photos. I'm thanking God for the rain! Thanks for being a great model Ashton!

Many of you may know that I have been working with Matt Adcock for the past several years. Well, when it was his turn to get married, I got the chance to go to Mexico to witness his marriage to the lovely Sol Tamargo.

This photo is of the two of them goofing off in one of our many "unoffical" photoshoots of the trip. There were more photographers than I can count that went to the wedding week celebration in Mexico. Quite a well documented wedding!

I have known Annie & Tucker for as long as they have been on this planet! They are two of the most adorable children you'll meet. I had my camera with me one night while their family was over for dinner, so I took advantage of the Christmas decor in my parent's house :)

The title of this photo should be "Have you been naughty or nice?"

Over Thanksgiving I went to visit my baby sister and her new hubby Thomas in Virginia. They live about half an hour outside of DC (on a holiday with NO traffic which is extremly rare!) so we went to visit our nations capitol for a little bit.

So this shoot was a little different, but was tons of fun! I had a great time hanging out with the McMahons, three dogs, and a cat! It was challenging to photograph all of these guys at once, but it was cool to have the interaction between two couples, and all their pets/kids.
