Welcome to my world!

Thanks so much for stopping by my little piece of the cyberspace world!  My name is Melissa Prosser and I eat, sleep, and breathe photography.  I absoultely adore what I do and hope that joy reflects back in my work.  Weddings are primarily my focus, but I am pretty happy doing anything that puts me behind a camera.

I like to take photos in a documentary style.  I will never tell you to "say cheese!"  I focus on capturing events exactly how they take place.  I want you to be able to relive your day through the photos that I take.  Please also check out an INTERVIEW with me!  This will help answer a bunch of questions I'm sure!

I am also an award winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association and the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association.  These are WORLDWIDE associations that recognize wedding photographers for their work.  It is an honor to be a member of these fantastic groups, let alone winning an awards!

I have been wanting to photograph a couple at Stone Mountain Park for quite some time!  Lucky for me, Jason grew up in the area, and knew the park like the back of his hand!  We had some great fun photographing on his home turf with his beautiful fiance Wendy the Saturday before their wedding!!!

WPJA Contest Results | March 4, 2010

As you all  may know, I am a member of WPJA.  As described on their site:

“The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) is a professional organization composed of photojournalists and wedding photographers from around the world. What sets our members apart in the industry is their candid, documentary approach – a distinctly artistic vision toward wedding photography.”

Well, they hold quarterly contests with their members, and with the latest I placed FIRST in the ceremony division!!!  Below is the winning photo:

Also, you may remember the wedding I photographed at Cuscowilla last August?  Carmen and Jonathan Dawson?  Well Cuscowilla puts out a new magazine every year to showcase their venue and vendors that they reccomend.  I got some major love from the fantastic Jaime Murray who is in charge of events and there are quite a few photos of mine in there!  Check it out HERE.

Today we got a nice bit of snow here in Georgia!  It’s not often that we see it, but when we do it’s fun!  My dog absolutely loves it, so I just have to share these few photos of her enjoying every minute of being in the snow!

First engagement shoot of 2010!  Hooray!  This was a great one to start off the year with!  Stacie and Jeff are an absolutely adorable couple! We had such a great time taking these photos, I can’t wait until their wedding on August 14th!

Jeff & Chloe’s Wedding | January 23, 2010 | Grace Fellowship Church

It’s always nice to shoot a wedding in January!  I love when a couple does something different, and this wedding was just that!  I got to help out my great friend Brian Steele at Chloe & Jeff’s wedding.  This day was awesome!  I have never seen such a worshipful ceremony.  You can tell that this couple loves God, loves each other, and will have a great journey together in life.  They even washed each others feet during the service. Here are a few of my favorite photos.

Charlotte & Andrew’s wedding | Taylor Grady House and Nicholson Baptist Church | December 12, 2009

This is my last post from 2009!  I ended the year with a beautiful wedding between Charlotte and Andrew in the Athens area.  These guys were super sweet, and made me feel like a part of the family!  This wedding also holds a little piece of my heart since Taylor Grady House is where my sister’s wedding reception was held.  This was a great wedding, despite the chilly weather we experienced!  Below are a few favorites, but be sure to check out their SLIDESHOW for more!

Ashley & Joey’s wedding at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve | December 6, 2009

Ashley and Joey Tindell are such an amazing couple!  I met with them about a month before their wedding.  They were just ready to get married, and made it happen in about a six week engagement!  I am so happy that they called me.  It was great getting to know this fantastic couple and be able to document their big day.  The ceremony and reception were at the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve in Alpharetta.  It’s such an adorable spot!  Below are a few of my favorite photos, but please check out the SLIDESHOW for more!
